Singapore, 10 February 2025 – The APAC Society for Cellular Agriculture (APAC-SCA), a leading advocate of cellular agriculture in the Asia-Pacific region, is pleased to share its recent milestones and vision for the future. As the industry consolidates to gain re-borne momentum, APAC-SCA remains committed to foster innovation, collaboration, and policy advocacy to accelerate the adoption of sustainable food technologies. We are thrilled to announce key ongoing and future initiatives entailing the vision of our members.
Since our lunch in 2022, APAC-SCA has worked towards building a foundation of coordinative activities driving industry growth, while providing tangible benefits to our members. APAC-SCA members gain full-visibility on contemporary developments through structured, monthly membership updates with access to a proprietary policy and regulatory database and take active participation in APAC-SCA’s core programmes, including cellagforum.info, and cellagstudent.com. In Singapore alone, we have created a network of over 100+ academics & students dedicated to drive cell ag development – and internationally, through our APAC Regulatory Coordination Forum, we had co-authored two white papers (cell line development and cell culture media components) that have reached 100’s of institutions, companies, and most importantly – regulatory bodies. These programmes are in the second year of running with even more traction, milestones, and publications ahead. Naturally, much more is happening behind the scenes, and APAC-SCA activities expand greatly beyond our two current main programmes. We will continue our efforts in organising Asia’s first cultivated meat pavilion at the Singapore International Agrifood Week (two years running), participating and presenting in over 100+ events, authoring published materials, issuing industry-wide key direct statements and dialogue to regulatory bodies, creating and running University based Cell Ag courses, and actively participated in international cell ag initiatives organised by FAO, ISO, and Singapore Standards.
In our continued effort to benefit our members and the cell ag industry by and large, we are excited to launch (in Q1/Q2), our third major programme focusing on driving investments to our members. Furthermore, APAC-SCA is also planning an expansion of activities overseas, to include our first full-time hire in an APAC country outside of Singapore.
“APAC-SCA’s vision is clear, and we will work tirelessly towards building an environment that can benefit all our members at APAC-SCA and the cell ag industry as a whole. This year will be about finalising a very strong foundation for the industry association – investments. We’ve successfully instigated and presently managing industry-wide and international programmes for regulatory and academic coordination that will continue going forward. Adding investment focus to our repertoire will undoubtedly solidify our foundation as the forward-thinking, pro-active, and leading industry association serving companies dedicated towards cell ag in one way or another.
APAC-SCA is extremely thankful to all of our partners in the ecosystem and looks forward to our continued collaboration – GFI APAC, Temasek Polytechnic, Gyeongbuk TechnoPark, Uiseong-Gun, Society for Foodsustainatech, AMPS Innovation, Cellular Agriculture Europe, and many more.”
